3500/32 displays with hazardous certification options (01&-02) have been certified to Division 2/Zone 2 standards (both ATEX/IECEx and North American zones and subzones.) The Division 2/Zone 2 standards specify increased spacing requirements at higher voltages, and the 3500/32M relays do not meet these spacing requirements. For this reason, 3500/32M relays with hazardous area certification options (including country-specific hazardous area certification options) have historically been limited to lower voltages than relays with non-hazardous certification options. The use of higher voltages would be a violation of the Hazardous Area Certification associated with the Hazardous Area Certification option.
